Former circa 1877 MOPAC barn saved from road and intersection improvement project on Allentown Road, Franconia Township . . .
The former MOPAC barn also known historically as the circa 1877 Hiram Clemmer barn which used to be located on the corner of Allentown and Lower Roads in Franconia Township was dismantled a number of years ago to make wake for an intersection improvement and widening project of Lower Road and Allentown Road. Fortunately, another local nearby historical society was able to step in and pay for the dismantling and reassembly of the barn in another nearby township. FHS

Franconia Historical Society celebrates 5th Anniversary in 2007!
The Pioneer America Society recognized and awarded the hard work of Society members, Kate Nuss and Vickie Landis, for their successful efforts in stopping the proposed demolition and having the historic Jonas Leidy Homestead forever preserved on Leidy Road, Franconia Township with this wooden plaque that the FHS received October 22, 2004 at the awards banquet in Newtown, Bucks County, PA.
This goes to show as a fine example that when public and private partnerships are formed such as this with land developers, builders, government entities, non-profits and the public coming together anything is possible for historic preservation and the preservation of local history and identity. Souderton Borough . . .
The above photograph had the following written on the back side, "Excavating for West Broad Street." The words, "D.F. Ziegler, Souderton, PA," was stamped on the front of the photograph. Ziegler is believed to be a local photographer from Souderton Borough during the time of this photograph.
The Society has been unsuccessful in determining who the above gentleman is pictured in the above photograph which appears to have been taken on West Chestnut Street, Souderton, PA.
